Saturnia Hotel and Trekking

Tuscany. Locanda la Pieve a charming hotel located in Tuscan Territory, just 5 Miles from Saturnia Thermal Bath. Our motto is Slow Life. Enrico & Angela are pleased to Welcome you.
Enrico Cipolletta and Angela Silla were general manager and sales & marketing manager of large luxury hotels until they opted for the simple and genuine pleasure of changing their lives, by switching to the rhythms of the Tuscan countryside. Today their new life is Locanda la Pieve, near Saturnia SPA, in Semproniano, Maremma to be precise.
They bought this place deep in lite heart of nature and transformed it into an eight-room treasure, with a cosy yet sophisticated atmosphere.
Almost "another world".
Traditional cuisine has always been, and always will be, one of the Locanda’s strengths. The atmosphere of a family meal blends with old-world ambience at the table as you feast on fresh pasta, game, cheeses, honey and sweets from the Maremma. Breakfast without daily alarm clock; relish genuine dishes as you pass the day in harmony with your biorhythms.
Morning brekafst? Moments of sheer bliss to be savoured along, with the tranquil countryside, in the restaurant and on the flowered terrace. Apart from its flavours, the Maremma is also reflected in the atmospheric colours and styles.
The rooms, which are all different - each has its own name - boast all modern comforts, which blend harmoniously with the locai furnishings and details.
The surrounding areas are graced by the Terme di Saturnia spa resort, or trips can be organized to the Wild Animal Recovery Centre which takes in wounded animals from all over Italy, to the Bosco dei Rocconi WWF Oasis, or to the Fauna Park in Monte Labro. Don't miss the "tuff-stone towns" Sovana, Sorano and Pitigliano, or Monte¬merano, Rocchetto di Fazio, Roccalbegna, Santa Fiora and Amiata, the mountain beloved of Bud¬dhists.
Maremma a place to stay, a place to discovery, a place to love.
The motto of Enrico and Angela is “slow life”, they welcome you!

Come and visit us to discover the territory around us. Locanda La Pieve can be a strategic point of departure for exploring the magnificent places that surround us and which we propose just a few examples.

Colors and hidden corners to go on foot, calmly, looking around to discover the nuances of these old places. You will realise that the silence that surrounds you is the most precious luxury together with the rediscovery of time. Exchange two chatting with people who live here, you will be very surprised by the depth and simplicity of time lost and ancient wisdoms, not disturbed by stress and the frenetic pace of cities.
Semproniano a village of another time
The village of Semproniano is still characterized by stretches of its original construction.

Its historic center is made from the typical charming rustic dwellings of medieval origin that arise between narrow lanes paved in stone.

The old centre, with its narrow streets and winding, develops in half concentric around the Aldobrandesca Rocca, of which there are only a few pieces and from which our gaze sweeps up to Monte Amiata.
Next to the fortress, on the square, there is the Church of Santa Croce. The first historical mention that we have is in a document of 1188 from Pope Clement III. Unfortunately the Church followed the fortress, suffering looting and destruction. His current appearance is simple, with only an arc in the middle. The walls are in typical colors of Siena: black and white.
Interesting is also the Romanesque church that is probably the oldest building in the city, having been built around the 10th century by Aldobrandeschi family.
Triana Castello Piccolomini
A few kilometres from Semproniano and on the road that leads to Grosseto by Roccalbegna, there Triana and the historic Castle Piccolomini overlooking the valley.
Sky and Sea...
You know that the sea is only 60 km? On a bright day, you can see the mirror of the sea from the road that leads to Saturnia!
The Colors of Maremma.
Cascatelle natural Gorello, Saturnia.
Only 7 km from Semproniano and Locanda La Pieve, are these famous "natural waterfalls". Here the ancient Romans came to treat wounds before returning to Rome and they had discovered that the waters were miraculous. Today many people to stop and come back for a bath healthy at any time of year.
